Pitney Bowes released their 2020 Shipping Index. It is incredible to see the continued growth of shipments in the US with now over 20 billion shipments per year. Here is what I believe are the top 3 takeaways from this index.
Each person was responsible for 61 shipments in 2020
Parcel volume grew 37% year over year in the US
USPS moved the highest volume of shipments at 38%
It is clear that the carriers will continue to fight more with internal challenges to support the growing volume than with one another. This can lead to unfavorable lack of consumer price sensitivity. To avoid being overcharged when shipping your items, make sure you are comparing rates and NEVER paying full retail!
